The only reason i'm updating this ol thing is because I'm Thailand at the moment where Xanga has NOT been baned...like in china.

I'm waiting for my 1AM flight...and stealing the free wifi from the cafe next door to starbucks, where i sit right now

i just got back from thailand. It was a month long trip, and I can't say i'm glad its over...i guess i'm just not looking forward to cold china right now

i'm thankful for the break though, the greatest part was teh fellowship that i SO badly needed.

So if you happen to read this you will be the first to know a little secret...
I'm very likely going to transfer to Beijing next year to teach the TCKs.. Whats a TCK? Third Culture Kid. Math, science, bible, and maybe more to American 5t-8th graders living in china

I think this will be a MUCH better fit for me, and something with whcih i can really use my gifts. just thinking about it makes me excited.

keep me lifted up.
i'm pretty darn homesick....

grace and people. JESUS GOD THE BIBLE!!!! yes...i can say that since this isn't going to be opened in china.

CHEERS!

BACK

I arrived to St. Louis today. Its good to be home, but a little weird.
Tomorrow I go to a sort of two day family reunion. It will be nice to see ALL of my extended family before i go to china.
Last weekend i went to Guatemala to visit the country and Ana Lu, my dear friend and roommate my senior year of college. I gave her a huge surprise because she didn't know that i was coming. I really liked Guatemala. It was a bit colder than El Salvador and it was beautiful. So green, and so mountainous. I like the Guatemalan Spanish better...mainly because they pronounce their "ss" sound.

Well, for the next month or so I will be studying and packing and preparing for China. I've got like 100 doctor's appointments before i go...h,mmm---my tooth hurts...

Today i have only seen Charles, Claire, and my mom. Where is the rest of my family>??

Its in the 90s here in St. LOuis! man, Its like being back in El Salvador...but without a beach....

please please email me  if you ever want to communicate with me. I would love to hear from you.
God bless you/ Dios te bendiga.

Finally

I finally found out where in China I will be teaching!

Tonghua is the name of the city and it's in the Jilin province of China.

So where is Tonghua?

Tonghua is about 2 hours north of the North Korean border. Yes, North Korea.

It has a mountain terrain, beautiful and cold.

What's new, Genevieve?

Well, I'm still here in El Salvador living and working. The weather has been really hot and humid! The thing that I am not as used to is hardly ever feeling AC. I work all day without it and I come home to a casa without it. It's not really that bad...as long as there is a breeze and its not the middle of the day.

I have two more weeks of teaching 5th grade. I am tired so I look forward to a break. But i have really enjoyed getting to know my 25 students. They are all so unique and precious and it brings me a lot of joy to be able to be their teacher. I will miss them all very much.

A week ago my friend charlie came home to El Salvador and I was able to hang out with him. It was so refreshing to talk to one of my friends from the University.

I really can't believe that my stay here is almost over. I leave Central America in three weeks! and my spanish?? well, I think that it is all it can be after only 5 months. Teaching English full time definitely made it harder to focus on learning Spanish. I would honestly say I have an intermediate to advanced fluency in Spanish. I understand about 80% but can only speak about 60. I still praise God for this progress, even though its not what I hoped for.

A friend here asked me, "if you could live anywhere other than the US where would you live?"
Oh man, I couldn't pick just one place, but one place i would love to live is El Salvador...or another country in CA.
but through my time here I have found it to be really livable and fitting. Its traffic, air quality, and theft rate are not exactly attractive, but its beauty (mountains and beach), people, way of life and more, make it a place that I would recommend to anyone to live....and of course the pupusas are the best here and I will miss them bery much.
